YEATER BREAKS SINGLE-SEASON RECORD FOR STOLEN BASES AGAINST SPRING ARBOR

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Indiana Wesleyan's Morgan Yeater broke the single-season school record for steals as the No. 17 Wildcats registered a doubleheader sweep at Spring Arbor University Wednesday afternoon.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
 
 

 
  • IWU broke the scoreless contest in the third inning. After Zoe Fountain walked and stole second base, she moved to third on a groundout. Sadie Harding's double allowed Harding to trot home. Brylee Bilger's double to left center made it 2-0.
  • The Wildcats held a 2-1 lead entering the sixth frame. Courtney Thomas led off the stanza with an infield single and promptly stole second base. After going to third on a sacrifice bunt, Kamryn Buck's sacrifice fly put the visitors in front 3-1.  
  • That was more than enough for Alyssa Wagner, who tossed a complete game. 
  • For the game, Thomas had a pair of hits. Bilger and Harding registered doubles while Bilger, Buck and Harding all knocked in a run.  
  • In the circle, Wagner gave up one run on five hits. Wagner struck out four and walked just one. She forced 12 fly ball outs and five groundouts.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
 

 
  • IWU jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning. With one down, Sadie Harding walked and moved to second on Bilger's base hit to left. After Courtney Thomas singled, Becca Wyatt smacked a double to left field, clearing the bags.  
  • In the second inning, Morgan Yeater reached on a fielding error and promptly set the school record with her 61st steal of the season.
  • The Wildcats led 3-2 in the third and quickly pushed the margin to four. Courtney Thomas singled and went to second on Wyatt's base hit to right field. They each stole a bag and scored on a single by Carli Merritt and an error by the left fielder.
  • IWU made it 6-2 with a run in the seventh. Courtney Thomas singled and stole second with one down. After hustling to third on Makenna Waddell's base hit, she scored when Abby Harvey reached on a fielder's choice. SAU plated a run in the bottom of the inning but could get no closer in the 6-3 victory.  
  • For the game, Courtney Thomas and Wyatt had three hits apiece. Wyatt drove in three while Courtney Thomas scored three times.  
  • In the circle, Alayna Thomas picked up the victory after going six innings. She had three strikeouts and gave up two runs on three hits. Wagner finished the contest by throwing the seventh inning.

  • The Wildcats return to action Saturday when they wrap up the regular season with a doubleheader at Huntington University starting at 1:00 p.m.
