MELBOURNE, Fla. – The No. 14 Indiana Wesleyan softball team opened the Space Coast Spring Games in Florida with a 7-3 win over Ave Maria University.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Ave Maria held a 2-0 lead through the first three innings but the Wildcats broke through for six runs in the fourth.
• Kamryn Buck and Makenna Waddell each walked. With two down, Becca Wyatt singled in Buck. After a steal by Wyatt, Zoe Fountain singled in the duo for a 3-2 lead.
• Chloe Tragresser singled in Fountain. Moments later, Sadie Harding lifted a sacrifice fly to plate Tragesser and B. Bilger reached on a miscue, allowing Morgan Yeater to cross home plate.
• Up 6-3 in the seventh, IWU added an insurance run when Wyatt drove in Abby Harvey, who had tripled earlier in the frame.
• For the game, Fountain went four-for-four with two RBI and a run scored. Wyatt tallied two hits, drove in two and scored. Yeater, Harding, Wadell, Harvey and Tragesser all had hits.
• Alyssa Wagner tossed a complete game, striking out four while giving up three unearned runs on five hits with two walks to pick up the victory.

 

NEXT TIME OUT

 

 

• The Wildcats return to action tomorrow for a pair of games. The team takes on the University of Michigan-Dearborn at 10:00 a.m., before squaring off against Lourdes at 12:15 p.m.
