KANSAS CITY, Mo. - No. 2-seed Indiana Wesleyan men's basketball is set to face No. 1-seed Langston in the 2024 NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship Quarterfinals presented by Ballogy. The Wildcats tip-off at 6:00 p.m. ET on Friday afternoon in the Municipal Auditorium. IWU reached advanced to the Quarterfinals after with an 84-73 victory over 3 seed Arizona Christian.

SCOUTING LANGTSON


 

  • Langston rides a 14-game win streak into the Quarterfinals with a record of 33-1 and is 21-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference,
  • The Lions earned their way to the Quarterfinals with a 78-61 victory over 12 seed LSU-Shreveport.
  • Langston earned an automatic bid to the National Tournament after winning both the SAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
  • The Lions are making their 8th appearance at the national tournament and their second consecutive appearance.
  • LU holds an all-time record of 8-7 in tournament play.

KEY LIONS


 

  • Anthony Rey (JR | G | 6-5)
    • Blackwell was named the SAC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.
    • He was fourth in the SAC with 18.8 ppg while leading the conference in 3-PT field goal percentage at 43%.
    • He averaged 4.7 rebounds and added 43 assists, 30 steals, and 10 blocks.
    • He produced two double-doubles on season.
    • His season high came when he dropped 30 against John Brown.
  • Cortez Mosley (SR | G/F | 6-5)
    • Mosley was named to the All-SAC Second Team and SAC Defensive Player of the Year.
    • He was second for the Lions with 12.8 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game.
    • His 36 points against Central Christian was his scoring high of the season. 
  • Toru Dean (SR | G | 6-0)
    • Dean was named to the All-SAC First Team.
    • He was fifth in the SAC with 4.1 assists per game and fourth with a 2.0 assist/turnover ratio.
    • He led the team with 76 steals.

NAIA RANKINGS


 

  • Dean's 76 steals rank 6th in the NAIA while his 140 assists rank 30th.
  • Roy ranks 46th in the NAIA in 3-PT FG%.

  • The winner of Langston/IWU will face the winner of 1-seed College of Idaho and 3 seed Morningside (Iowa) in the semifinals at 8:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 23.
