MARION, Ind. – The No. 14 Indiana Wesleyan baseball team fell behind 7-0 but fought back to make it a one-run game in the eighth inning. The Wildcats' hard-fought comeback attempt fell just short in the 7-6 loss.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

 
 

• Indiana University Southeast led 6-0 entering the bottom of the sixth when the Wildcats struck for three runs. Caleb Engelsman knocked in Darien Pugh, who had reached on a walk. After Engelsman stole second, Jake Thompson doubled Quinn Williard and Engelsman home to make it 7-3. 
• IWU pulled within one in the eighth inning with a three-run frame. Pugh singled to start things off and Willard followed it up with a base knock. Pugh was erased on a pick-off and Engelsman was hit by a pitch. A walk to Mark Snowden loaded the bases. Thompson's single drove in two and Luke Roman's sacrifice fly brought the home team within one at 7-6. 
• The Wildcats were retired in order in the ninth inning as the comeback attempt fell just short. 
• Thompson led the way with a pair of hits and four RBI. Willard also registered two hits and scored twice. Engelsman also raced home two times.
• Several saw time on the mound Tuesday. Grayson Knight got the start and worked two innings. He had a strikeout but ultimately took the loss. In all, eight IWU pitchers played. Austin Bahmer, Cam Lafuze and Caleb Olsen had two strikeouts apiece.
