NO. 5 VOLLEYBALL ADVANCES TO CROSSROADS LEAGUE SEMIFINALS WITH SWEEP OF TAYLOR

MARION, Ind. - No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan volleyball advanced to the Crossroads League Semifinals with a sweep of 8 seed Taylor on Saturday. The Wildcats tied their season low with only 5 errors and forced the Trojans in to 22. IWU held Taylor to a .089 hit percentage in a dominant Crossroads League Tournament victory.

  • Set one went back and forth until a 4-0 Wildcat run forced a Taylor timeout with IWU leading 22-17. A kill from Marissa Mullins and back-to-back kills from Martina Demarchi secured the set one victory for the red and gray.
  • IWU forced a quick timeout from the Trojans with a 5-0 run to go up 7-3. Another 5-0 run and a 6-0 run gave Indiana Wesleyan a 21-7 lead. Despite a small run from TU, the Wildcats wrapped up the second set with a 25-12 win.
  • The home team left no doubt in the third set, taking an early lead and ended the match with a 5-0 run, led by 3 kills from Mullins.
  • Marissa Mullins led IWU with 14 kills. Martina Demarchi tallied 12.
  • Mullins was also dominant on the defensive side, totaling 7 blocks. Abbigail Porter posted 4 of her own.
  • Cadee Notter led IWU with 21 digs. Demarchi recorded a double-double with 11.
  • Abbigail Porter led the offense with 43 assists.

  • "I was so proud of this team this afternoon!  They showed cohesiveness to another level!" Said Head Coach Candace Moats.
