MARION, IND. - No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan volleyball picked up their seventh ranked victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, sweeping No. 19 Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Wildcats had to battle from behind in set one to sneak away with a 25-23 win and outlasted the Cougars in set two for a 25-18 win. IWU dominated early in set three and cruised to a 25-16 win to finish off the sweep.

MATCH VITALS

• Two top ranked opponents in the NAIA come out swinging in Marion as IWU looked to keep their unbeaten streak alive. MVNU looked to be in control early in set one and took a 20-17 lead to force an IWU timeout. Indiana Wesleyan responded out of the timeout, scoring 6 of the next 8 points and forcing Mount Vernon to use both of their timeouts. IWU finished the job and earned a hardfought 25-23 win.
• Set two was close early as the teams were tied at 8 midway through the set. The Wildcats used a 4-0 run to take momentum and outlasted the Cougars the rest of the way, winning 25-18.
• IWU went into the third set up 2-0 and ready to put it away. They came out strong leading 13-4 midway through the set. MVNU didn't go away however, and battled back to trail by only 6 at 22-16 but the Wildcats were able to finish off the sweep and continue their unbeaten streak, winning the third set 25-16
• Eva Joldersma led the team with 13 kills. Martina Demarchi added 10.
• Julia Price had a team high 5 blocks. Marissa Mullins and Abbigail Porter had 3 blocks each.
• Porter led the team with 43 assists
• Cadee Notter posted 16 digs. Demarchi added 13.

MOATS PERSPECTIVE

• The Wildcats are back home next weekend for the IWU invitational. IWU will face No. 13 Columbia College Friday evening, and The University of St. Francis (Ill.) and Campbellsville University on Saturday.
