NO. 3 VOLLEYBALL PREVAILS IN TOUGH MATCHUP WITH MARIAN

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan volleyball stayed unbeaten on Wednesday night, overcoming a tough Marian University squad. The Wildcats dropped only their second set of the season when the Knights took set one 26-24, but IWU responded by winning each of the next three sets to earn a hard fought 3-1 victory.

  • Both teams battled early with set one tied 10-10. Neither team could pull away from the other as they were tied 24-24, however the Knights scored the final 2 points to take set one.
  • Marian looked to be in control in set two, taking a 19-12 lead before the Wildcats stormed back, tying the set at 23 and scoring the last 2 points to steal the set.
  • The teams continued to battle in set three with neither team leading by more that 5 points until IWU took a 6 point lead on the final kill from Cassie Gregory, winning 25-19.
  • The Knights took an early 11-8 lead in set four, but IWU clawed back to tie the set at 14. The teams went back and forth the rest of the way before IWU shut the door with a 25-23 win.
  • Eva Joldersma led the team with a season high 19 kills. Martina Demarchi recorded 17 and Cassie Gregory added 13.
  • Marissa Mullins had 5 blocks.
  • Abbigail Porter led the team with a season high 56 assists
  • Cadee Notter had a career high 32 digs, Joldersma posted 21 while Demarchi tallied 20.
