MARION, Ind. - No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan women's soccer continued their win streak after another home victory against the University of Rio Grande. After a quick goal from each side in the first ten minutes (Ashley Townsend 8'), the Wildcats took the lead with Sydney Brown's third goal of the season in the 26th minute to finish the half at 2-1. The Wildcats finished the game firing on all cylinders as they shot the ball 11 times in the second half and added two more goals to their total, 4-1. After this well-executed victory against Rio Grande, IWU will stay at home to go up against Lindsey Wilson College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

WHAT HAPPENED

• The University of Rio Grande started the game with the lead after a goal in the 5th minute.
• Ashley Townsend scored a header stemming from a corner kick by senior Mallory Kruger in the 8th minute.
• Sydney Brown slots her third goal of the season into the bottom left corner in the 26th minute.
• The Wildcats went into the second half with a lead of 2-1.
• IWU scored their first goal of the second half in the 58th minute with freshman Alyssa Hamann's first goal of the season, assisted by Mallory Krueger.
• The fourth and final goal was scored by sophomore Abbey Drahnak in the 70th minute assisted by junior Taylor Archbold. 

NOTABLE NUMBERS

• 19: IWU's attack attempted 19 shots on the day compared to URG's solo goal as their only shot.
• 7: All seven corner kicks were taken by Indiana Wesleyan, with five being in the second half.
• 2: Two assists for Mallory Krueger today as she tacks those on as her third and fourth assist in the season.

SEIFFERT PERSPECTIVE

• "Today was a good learning experience again for us," said Daniel Seiffert, Head Women's Soccer Coach. "Trying to figure out different ways to break opponents down is good for our team. Even though we went down a goal early on, I'm really proud of the way that we responded and kept our composure throughout the entire match. We will have another strong opponent this upcoming weekend so we will use these next couple of days to prep and get ready for another competitive match."
