HUNTINGTON, IND. -  Indiana Wesleyan baseball started out the Crossroads League Tournament with a 7-5 victory over the University of Saint Francis. The Wildcats answered each run from the Cougars to maintain a lead throughout the game and Hunter Hoffman shut down the Saint Francis offense in the final innings to give IWU the win.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Evan Salmon sent a 2 run shot to left center in the 1st inning, giving IWU a 2-0 lead.
• Neither team scored until the 6th inning when USF scored 3 runs in the top of the inning to take a 3-2 lead.
• IWU responded with 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th. First Caleb Engelsman scored Nick Wiley and Jake Thompson with a single to right field. Salmon then doubled to center, scoring Ty Mathews, Lucas Goodin, and Engelsman.
• Saint Francis got 1 run back in the 7th, cutting the deficit to 7-5. However Hunter Hoffman struck out 4 of the final 8 batters to secure the Wildcat victory.
• Evan Salmon tallied 5 RBIs in the win.
• Drue Young went 5.2 innings on the mound and recorded 5 strikeouts, 7 hits, and 4 runs.
• Hunter Hoffman pitched 2.1 innings with 4 strikeouts, only 1 hit, and 0 runs.
