MARION, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan baseball swept their doubleheader with Bethel on Thursday, improving their conference record to 13-3. IWU was led by strong pitching in both games.
Drue Young and
Hunter Hoffman combined for 14 strikeouts, 2 walks, 4 hits, and 3 earned runs in game one while
Brock Buckley went 6.1 innings in game two, posting 5 strikeouts, 6 hits, and 4 runs.

- The Pilots got on the board first with a 1 run homerun in the 3rd inning. Jeff Morton ansewered with 1 run homer of his own in the bottom of the inning, Ty Mathews brought home 2 more runs in the innings to give IWU a 3-1 lead.
- Jake Thompson scored on a Caleb Engelsman single in the 4th.
- Lucas Goodin sent a ball over the center field wall also scoring Luke Roman in the 7th.
- Bethel added two runs in the 8th to pull within 3 runs at 6-3.
- The Wildcats responded with 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th to push their lead to 10-3.
- Bethel scored on a wild pitch in the 1st to go ahead 1-0.
- IWU got the run back on a walk with bases loaded in the bottom of the 1st. A Pilot error also brought a run across in the 1st.
- A MJ Stavola sac fly in the 2nd scored Lucas Goodin.
- The Wildcats exploded for 4 runs in the 4th inning, pushing their lead to 7-1.
- Bethel added a run in the 5th and got within 3 runs with a 2 run homer in the 7th, but were unable to overcome the 6 run hole.
- After Brock Buckley pitched the first 6.1 innings, Brennan Morehead came in for the final two outs, picking up the save.
- The Wildcats resume their series with Bethel tomorrow at 12:00 pm.
