MARION, Ind. - The Indiana Wesleyan baseball split their doubleheader against the University of Saint Francis on Friday, falling 8-4 in game one but coming out on top in game two 4-1. Bryce Ginder led the team in game two with 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and 1 run, helping power the Wildcats over the Cougars.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• IWU loaded the bases in the 1st inning, scoring 2 runs off a Colby Jenkins single and a walk.
• USF evened the score in the 4th with 2 runs of their own. Nick Wiley answered for the Wildcats in the bottom of the 4th with a solo homerun.
• The Cougars added a run in each of the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings to pull ahead 5-3.
• MJ Stavola kept IWU in the game with a solo homerun, making the sore 5-4 going into the final inning.
• Saint Francis added 2 runs in the 9th to push their lead to 8-4. The Wildcats loaded the bases but were unable to score in the bottom of the 9th.
• Drue Young got the start on the mound striking out 7 and giving up 7 hits, and 3 earned runs.

 

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Lucas Goodin scored on a MJ Stavola single in the 1st to put IWU up 1-0.
• USF evened the score in the 3rd.
• Bryce Ginder doubled in th 6th, scoring Luke Roman and Caleb Engelsman.
• A Ty Mathews sac fly scored Ginder pushing the Wildcat lead to 4-1.
• Brock Buckley and Grayson Knight combined for 4 strikeouts, 5 hits, and 1 earned run.
