SIOUX CITY, IA - No. 1-seed Indiana Wesleyan women's basketball were back in Tyson Event Center for the second day in a row in the quarterfinals of the NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship presented by Ballogy. The Wildcats saw their season come to an end at the hands of the No. 6-seed Trojans of Dakota State University, 71-70. DSU continue their cinderella run after wins over No. 2-seed Carroll, No. 3-seed Eastern Oregon, and No. 11-seed Morningside. IWU closes out the year with a 31-4 overall record.

FIRST QUARTER



 

  • The Trojans wreaked havoc early and scored 8 points off IWU's 7 first quarter turnovers.
  • Despite seven turnovers and a four-minute scoring drought, the Wildcats ended the first quarter on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit from ten to five points.

SECOND QUARTER


 

  • Back-to-back three's from Dakota State push the lead back to double digits, 24-13.
  • IWU responded with a 9-0 run to cut the lead to two points.
  • A Jordan Reid layup at the 4:31 mark gave the Wildcats their first lead since being up 2-0 at the beginning of the game.
  • Lilli Frasure scored six-consecutive points to help push IWU's lead to 36-30 at halftime.

THIRD QUARTER


 

  • A bucket and two free-throws to start the third quarter gave Indiana Wesleyan a 40-33 lead.
  • Two free-throws from Jordan Reid with 3:46 left in the quarter tied the Wildcats' largest lead of the game at 48-40.
  • A 4-0 run to end the third quarter for DSU cut the IWU lead to 50-47.
  • Indiana Wesleyan shot 30% from the field in the quarter, their lowest of the game.

FOURTH QUARTER



 

  • A 7-0 run early in the fourth quarter for Dakota State gave them their first lead since the 5:13 mark in the 2nd quarter.
  • After trailing by seven, three-consecutive forced turnovers by IWU cut the deficit to 63-61, forcing a DSU timeout with 3:29 left.
  • Both teams continued to traded buckets, resulting in two ties and two lead changes over a two-minute span.
  • Clutch free-throws from Jordan Reid gave IWU 70-68 lead with just over a minute left in the game.
  • A three-pointer from DSU with 18.2 seconds left gave the Trojans a 71-70 lead.
