TUCSON, Ariz. - No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan softball split their games on the final day of the Tucson Invitational games, defeating Dickinson State University 5-0 in game one and falling to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 7-6 in the final game.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Ashton Whitman got the Wildcats on the board in the 3rd inning with a homer to left field.
• Kamryn Buck scored on a Chloe Tragesser single to right field and Becca Wyatt brought Tragesser across with a triple to center field, giving IWU a 3-0 lead in the 4th.
• In the 6th inning Courtney Thomas brought in Zoe Fountain with a double to left field. A sac fly by Amanda Cope scored Thomas, extending the lead to 5-0.
• 8 Wildcats recorded a hit against Dickinson State.
• Alyssa Wagner pitched a complete game, striking out 13 of the 24 batters she faced and allowed only 1 hit.

  

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Courtney Thomas and Jenna Yost gave IWU a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning on a double Kamryn Buck.
• RPI added 4 runs in the 2nd and 3 runs in the 3rd to put the Wildcats in a 7-2 hole.
• Julianne Bell crossed home on a ground out by Chloe Tragesser in the bottom of the 3rd.
• IWU cut the deficit to 1 run in the bottom of the 7th on runs from Arie Hackett, Morgan Yeater, and Kamryn Buck. The Wildcats were unable to get the tying run across however, falling 7-6.
• 5 Wildcats recorded multiple hits.
• Kamryn Buck recorded 3 RBIs.
• Emma Etter-Cox and Alayna Thomas combined for 5 strikeouts, 7 hits, and 7 earned runs on the mound.

  

NEXT TIME OUT

 

• The Wildcats return to Marion for their home opener against the University of Saint Francis on Wednesday, March 15th at 4:00 p.m.
