JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. - No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan softball continued their opening week of their season with the doubleheader against IU Southeast. The Wildcats held off a late Grenadier comeback for a 3-2 victory in Game 1. A defensive showdown in Game 2 resulted in a heartbreaking walk-off for IU-Southeast, 1-0.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Elisa Koshy sent her second home run of the season over the fence in the 4th inning to give IWU the 1-0 lead.
• Ashton Whitman scored an unearned run later that inning to make the score 2-0.
• IU Southeast hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the 7th, but IWU held off the comeback.
• Alyssa Wagner threw a complete game and tallied 7 strikeouts while giving up just 2 hits.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

• Alayna Thomas highlighted a defensive showdown after giving up just one run through 6.1 innings.
• Middle infielders Zoe Fountain and Chloe Tragesser led the IWU defense with 9 of the team's 14 assists.

• "Although we didn't adjust at the plate either game, I saw a lot to be excited about." said Steve Babinski, Head Softball Coach. "Our pitching staff was electric, our defense went another two games without an error, and we were able to get a lot of players great experiences. This team is built for greatness, and I am pumped to get a front row seat in this journey!"

  

LOOKING FORWARD

 

• The Wildcats are scheduled to play their home opener at Sue Bowman Field on March 3rd.
