MARION, Ind. - No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan women's soccer is championship-bound in the Crossroads League Tournament after defeating Bethel University 2-0 on Wednesday evening. After shooting six of their seven shots in the first half before the thirty-minute mark, the Wildcats capitalized in the 31st minute. Sophomore Madelynn Welker found Ashley Townsend to put the Wildcats up 1-0 before the second half. After Townsend found her second goal to double the lead in the second half, IWU held strong on their way to the championship. No. 7 IWU Women's Soccer will travel to Spring Arbor for the Crossroads League championship on Saturday.

WHAT HAPPENED

Madelynn Welker found Ashley Townsend after a strong attack to give IWU the lead at 1-0 in the 31st minute.
Ashley Townsend doubled her scoring on the day after an assist from Sydney Brown in the 62nd minute to secure the Wildcats way to the Crossroads League Championship.

TOWNSEND PERSPECTIVE

"It was great team win today," said Ashley Townsend. "Our league is very competitive and every team puts up a great fight. However, I think that we executed our game plan well and fought hard the whole 90 minutes, which ultimately gave us the win. We're excited to be competing in the Crossroads League championship on Saturday. I'm so thankful to God for this experience and a team that puts him at the center of it all."
