NO. 1 VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS GRACE 3-1

WINONA LAKE, IND. - No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan volleyball kept their unbeaten record on Wednesday night, taking down Grace 3-1 on the road. Sophomore Abbigail Porter surpassed 1,000 assists for the season after entering the game with 999.

  • The Wildcats get out to an early lead in the first set 8-4 but Grace didn't give up as they pulled it within one 11-10 before IWU took momentum and won the first set 25-20
  • The Lancers went up 13-10 midway through the second set, but IWU tied it up at. 17-17. However, the Lancers were able to pull it out and get the second 25-22 as they even the set score 1-1.
  • IWU took control early as they went up 13-8 midway through the third. The Wildcats stayed in control, going up 19-11 at the back end of the third. They didn't look back as they take the third set 25-21 to go up 2 sets to 1.
  •  The teams found themselves tied at 18-18 late in the fourth set. Indiana Wesleyan took control, winning the fourth set 25-19 and win the match 3-1. 
  • Martina Demarchi led the offense with 18 kills. Eva Joldersma added 16.
  • Rebekah Sergent had 3 aces.
  • Abbigail Porter and Marissa Mullins led the team with 6 blocks each while Julia Price had 4.
  • Porter led the team with 40 assists.
  • Joldersma had a team high 16 digs, Demarchi and Porter both added 14.
