WILDCATS ADVANCE IN WORLD SERIES WINNER'S BRACKET FOR FIRST TIME IN SCHOOL HISTORY

COLUMBUS, GA. - Sixth-seeded Indiana Wesleyan softball upset three-seeded Freed-Hardeman Lions 3-1 this afternoon in the first round of the NAIA World Series. Fourth inning was the only inning that either team put runs up on the scoreboard. This historic win marks the first win in the winner's bracket in the team's four appearances at the NAIA World Series. They move their record in the World Series to 3-6.

WHAT HAPPENED


 

  • After a scoreless first three innings, the Wildcats loaded the bases in the fourth. Chloe Tragesser and Miranda Wehrle both singled to get on base. Abby Harvey walked to load the bases with Kamryn Buck up. A Buck walk sent home Tragesser giving the Wildcats their first run of the game.
  • Next up to bat, Elisa Koshy singled to left field running in both Harvey and Wehrle.
  • In response during the fourth inning, the Lions loaded the bases and hit a sac fly to run in their solo run of the game.
  • The rest of the game remained scoreless. Alyssa Wagner threw the first four innings before Emma Etter-Cox closed the game with the last three innings. Etter-Cox allowed just one hit in 28 pitches.
