MARION, Ind. - No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan softball defeated Midland University 7-4 to advance to the NAIA Opening Round Championship game tomorrow. Wildcats used their 10-4 hit advance to move past the Warriors. IWU threw three pitchers who all combined for seven strike outs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

 

• First inning:
  • Becca Wyatt double sent in Jennah Yost in the first inning to get the Wildcats on the board.
• Second inning:
  • Warriors responded in the second inning with scoring off of a Wildcat error.
  • Chloe Tragesser double to left scored Yost and Makenna Pace.
• Third inning:
  • Warriors walked in their second run.
• Fourth inning:
  • Makenna Pace hit a bomb over the fence, her first one this season.
• Fifth inning:
  • Warriors responded with a homer of their own.
  • Wildcats added two runs in the bottom with an Abby Harvey reaching first via error which scored Alayna Thomas. A Kamryn Buck single sent home Wyatt.
• Sixth inning:
  • Chloe Tragesser singled to left field scoring Jennah Yost to secure the 7-4 win over the Warriors.

 

STAT TRACKER

 

• Wildcats posted ten hits for the second day in a row. Tragesser and Wyatt both led with two apiece.
• Jennah Yost stole three of the team's four bases, currently sitting 4th in the NAIA with 57 stolen bases on the season.
• Chloe Tragesser batted in three runs of the team's seven RBIs.
• Alyssa Wagner, Danielle Munn, and Emma Etter-Cox combined for seven strikeouts on the mound.

 

CHAMPIONSHIP AHEAD

 

• Wildcats advance to the Championship game tomorrow morning at 11am. IWU will play the winner of the 5pm game this evening.
