Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

DEFENSIVE CLINIC LIFTS NO. 7 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL OVER BETHEL, 64-40

MARION, Ind. - No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan women's basketball hosted Crossroads League foe Bethel (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon in Luckey Arena. The IWU defense showed once again why they are one of the best in country after forcing the Pilots into 39 turnovers. Jordan Reid led the way with 9 steals, the most in a game by a Wildcat in nearly 16 years. The Wildcats wrap up conference play in 2022 with a 64-40 win, giving them a 4-1 league record and a 9-3 overall record.

WHAT HAPPENED


 

  • The Wildcats forced 12 Bethel turnovers in the first quarter and jumped out to a 21-12 lead.
  • Bethel responded with an 6-0 run, but IWU countered with a 16-0 run of their own to take a 37-18 lead into the halftime locker room.
  • A sluggish opening five minutes of the 3rd resulted in an even 17-17 third frame.
  • A layup by Haley Rose near the end of play put the red and grey up 24, their largest lead of the game.

NOTABLE NUMBERS


 

  • 9: Jordan Reid's 9 steals were the most in a game by a Wildcat since Liz Howerth swiped 10 against Spalding University on Dec. 20, 2006.
  • 39: Bethel's 39 turnovers were the most by a IWU opponent all season.
  • 21: Indiana Wesleyan recorded their highest number of steals all season with 21.
