NO. 4 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL OPENS CROSSROADS LEAGUE PLAY WITH WIN OVER MOUNT VERNON

MARION, Ind. - No. 4 Indiana Wesleyan women's basketball began Crossroads League play on Friday night in Luckey Arena against Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Wildcat defense put on a clinic once again and held the Cougars to 11 points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. IWU bounced back for their loss earlier this week for a 75-59 win to jump out to 1-0 in conference play.

WHAT HAPPENED


 

  • The road team came out firing from all cylinders in the first half, shooting 69% from the field for a 23-17 lead.
  • IWU turned things around in the 2nd quarter and limited Mount Vernon to just 4 points, their lowest points allowed in a quarter this season.
  • The Wildcats kept up the defensive intensity and held the Cougars to 2-10 from the field and forced 9 turnovers.
  • Mount Vernon made a late 16-9 push in the 4th quarter, but the Wildcat lead was too great from them to overcome.

  • 42: IWU had their way inside with a 42-20 advantage in the paint.
  • 27: The red and grey held their largest lead of 27 points early in the 4th quarter.
