WOMEN'S SOCCER EARNS NO. 2-SEED IN WILLIAMSBURG BRACKET OF NAIA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FIRST ROUND

MARION, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan women's soccer is headed to Williamsburg, Kentucky, and the campus of Cumberlands University for the 2022 NAIA Women's Soccer Opening Round Championships. The Patriots will boast the No. 1 overall seed earning an At-Large bid. CU boasts a record of 15-1-3 on the season and boasted a fantastic 9-0-1 record in Mid-South Conference play.


The Wildcats will square off against No. 22 John Brown University in the first round of the 2022 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship. JBU punched their ticket after winning the Sooner Conference Tournament. The Golden Eagles enter the postseason with a 15-4 record and are led by Lauren Walter, who has netted 20 goals so far the season.

ABOUT JOHN BROWN


 

  • Located in Siloam Springs, Arkansas and founded in 1919.
  • They are a private nondenominational college and established by Dr. John E. Brown Sr.
  • JBU enrolls more than 2,200 students.

GOLDEN EAGLES TO DATE


 

  • John Brown never fell out of the Top 25 all season, ranking as high as No. 11 early in the year.
  • JBU ended the regular season 15-4 and won the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.
  • JBU ranks 12th in the NAIA with 69 goals scored and 5th with 65 assists.
  • The Golden Eagles rank first in the NAIA with 178 corners taken this year. They have also tallied 10 shutouts defensively.
  • Junior forward Lauren Walter leads the offense with 20 goals scored, ranking her 13th nationally.
  • Midfielder Elise Bosma leads the team with 10 recorded assists.
  • Senior Chloe Griffin defends the net for JBU with 49 saves and only 11 goals allowed.

  • JBU is making their 9th appearance in the NAIA postseason and holds a 4-6-2 record.
  • Dr. Kathleen Paulsen is in her 10th season as the Head Coach for the Golden Eagles, and holds an overall record of an overall mark of 149-34-15.
