DEFENSE LEADS WILDCATS OVER NO. 4 SAINTS

MARION, Ind. - No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan women's basketball opened up the Leah Whittaker Memorial Classic with a huge 59-36 win over No. 4 Carroll College. The Wildcats had a balanced offensive attack with four scorers reaching double figures. A dominant defensive showing kept the Saints out of sync all night, highlighted  by holding Carroll to zero points in the final frame. The defense picked up ten steals and three blocks, while only committing six fouls in the game.

  • Both teams struggled to put the ball in the hoop in the first quarter, but a Jade Nutley three at the buzzer put IWU up 15-14.
  • Lilli Frasure led the team in the second quarter with six points, giving the red and gray a 30-28 halftime advantage.
  • The Indiana Wesleyan defense held the Saints to only eight points in the third while also forcing eight turnovers.
  • The Wildcat defense was dominate in the fourth quarter holding Carroll to zero points and forcing seven turnovers. Jordan Reid scored six points in the period on 2-2 shooting and 2-2 from the free throw line.
