MOUNT VERNON, OH. - No.11 Indiana Wesleyan volleyball fell in five sets to the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars on Saturday. The Wildcats opened the match by taking the first two sets before dropping the final three. The loss drops IWU to 14-5 overall and 7-3 in the Crossroads League.

MATCH VITALS

The teams traded runs in the first set. IWU opened the set with a 5-1 run, but the Cougars responded with an 8-1 run to take the lead. The Wildcats then used runs of 7-2 and 7-1 to secure the first set victory.
After falling behind 6-2 early in the second set, IWU used runs of 10-1 and 6-1 to swing momentum and take a 2-0 lead into the third set.
Trailing 9-6 in the third set, the Wildcats went on a 12-3 run to take a commanding 18-13 lead. The Cougars battled back to tie the set at 22 before taking the set with a 25-22 victory.
After trailing for most of the fourth set, IWU was able to pull within one point at 24-23. The early deficit would be too much to overcome however, as IWU dropped the fourth set 25-23.
The teams battled in a tightly contested final set. IWU tied the set at 15-15, but Mount Vernon scored two straight to take the match 3-2.
Eva Joldersma (20), Martina Demarchi (15), and Cassie Gregory (12) led the Wildcat attack.
Danyelle Prado recorded a season high 53 assists.
Ally Barkhaus (24) and Danyelle Prado (21) led the IWU defense.
