IWU FALTERS TO TAYLOR IN 5-SET MATCHUP

UPLAND, Ind. - No. 16 Indiana Wesleyan volleyball team ran out of steam concluding their three-game week with a five-set loss to RV Taylor University.  Taylor has been consistent in winning five-set matches this season, bringing this win to their third five-set match on the season and second one in conference over #24 Bethel University.  In the last 15 IWU/Taylor matchups, IWU has prevailed 11-4.  
 
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
LOSS 2-3: 9-25, 25-18, 25-17, 20-25, 10-15
  • The Wildcats came out passive in set one and only collected five kills.  The momentum was solely in the Trojans hands from the start when they jumped out to an 12-1 start.
  • In set two, Wildcats battled point by point collecting 17 kills and their best kill percentage all match with .433 compared to the game's average of .151.
  • IWU continued to take control in set three recording 15 kills compared to Taylor's 12.
  • The fourth set started similar to how set one started.  Taylor jumped out to a 11-3 lead and never looked back.
  • Set five was back and forth until Taylor's late four point run which ultimately was the deciding factor in the game.
  • Courtney Watkins led the attack with 16 of the team's 54 kills.
  • Ana Collar led the defense with 28 digs.
  • Ally Barkhaus and Samantha Sanchez each picked up three service aces.

  • "Taylor had a strong performance today!  I felt we fought hard but we definitely need to keep improving some of our areas!  We will go back to work on Monday!"
