SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan softball team split a pair of games at Spring Arbor, falling 5-1 in the first game before Mckenzey Ridge threw a no-hitter in the 9-0 nightcap victory.

INSIDE THE BOX – Game 1

• IWU fell behind 3-0 after the third inning but pulled within two after plating a run in the fifth. Spring Arbor answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth and secured the 5-1 victory.
• The Wildcats posted five hits in the game.
• Down 3-0 in the fifth, Rebecca Schrad led off the inning with a triple to left field. With one down, Aubrie Eckert was hit by a pitch and Schrad scored moments later.
• Eckert moved to second and Becca Wyatt drew a base on balls, but Addie Benham was unable to push across her teammates as the inning ended.
• Chloe Tragresser posted two hits while Eckert, Schrad and Miranda Wehrle each had a hit. Eckert and Wehrle each accounted for doubles in the game.
• Alyssa Wagner suffered the loss. She worked all six innings and had four strikeouts.

INSIDE THE BOX – Game 2

• In the circle, Mckenzey Ridge went the distance and struck out four batters while throwing a no-hitter. She walked just three batters and threw 82 pitches en route to earning the victory in six innings.
• The game was scoreless through the first two innings, but IWU registered five runs in the third stanza.
• Julianne Bell singled and swiped second base. She moved to third when Jennah Yost reached on an error. Yost stole second and a groundout by Tragresser broke the tie as Bell scored.
• Wehrle lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, plating Yost to make it 2-0 with two away. Hannah Miller singled and Zoe Fountain came in as a pinch runner. She made her presence known, swiping second immediately. Schrad launched a two-run homer to left center field for a 4-0 edge.
• Kamryn Buck followed her up with a solo homer.
• In the fourth, Wyatt got on base and scored when Tragresser blasted a two-run round-tripper over the left center field wall to make it 7-0.
• The Wildcats extended the margin to 9-0 with a pair of runs in the sixth. With two away, Tragresser doubled and promptly scored on Wehrle's single. She moved to second on the throw and scored on Schrad's single.
• For the game, Schrad was unstoppable, posting four hits while driving in three. Wehrle had three hits and drove in two while Tragresser had two hits and knocked in three runs. She also scored twice.

NEXT TIME OUT

• The Wildcats take the field again Friday when they play at the University of Saint Francis for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
