MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan continued its winning ways Friday, picking up a sweep at Bethel by scores of 18-3 and 4-0.


GAME VITALS

• GAME 1: Indiana Wesleyan 18, Bethel 3

INSIDE THE BOX – Game 1

• Blake Storr rattled off three hits and drove in five to lead the way for the Wildcats. Denver Blinn notched three hits and scored three times. Tye Thixton, Lucas Goodin, MJ Stavola, Nick Coy and Luke Roman had two hits apiece. Goodin drove in four and came across home plate three times. Stavola scored four times while Coy also reached home plate three times.
• Braedon Norman worked six innings, striking out six batters. Gabe Fleace tossed an inning and had a pair of strikeouts while facing five batters.
• In the first, Thixton scored on an error. Blinn crossed home on an ensuing miscue. Storr's base hit plated Goodin and Stavola before Roman's base hit plated Coy for a 5-0 edge.
• Up 5-3 in the third, Stavola scored on a Storr's groundout. Coy crossed home on an error before Thixton's double scored Roman. Blinn's three-bagger scored Thixton and Colby Jenkins recorded a sacrifice fly, plating Blinn to push the score to 10-3.
• Goodin launched a three-run homer in the fifth inning. Coy doubled in Stavola before coming home on Storr's single.
• Goodin doubled in Jenkins in the sixth inning and scored on Stavola's hit. Storr's base hit plated Stavola for the final margin.

CROOKED NUMBERS

• The Wildcats put up crooked numbers on the scoreboard four times. In the first, third and fifth innings, the team scored five runs. IWU plated three runs in the seventh for the 18-run contest while pounding out 16 hits.

MULTI-HIT, MULTI-RBI, MULTI-RUN PERFORMANCES

• Lucas Goodin, MJ Stavola and Nick Coy had multi-hit, multi-RBI and multi-run efforts in the opener. Goodin notched two hits, four RBI and scored three times. Stavola tallied two hits, two RBI and scored four times. Coy had two hits, two RBI and three runs scored in the win.  

INSIDE THE BOX – Game 2

• Tanner Killian highlighted a three-run first inning with a two-run blast. The first run of the game, though, came when Jenkins singled in Thixton.
• IWU added a run in the sixth when Jenkins crushed a 1-1 pitch over the left field wall for a solo homer.
• Austin Swift worked four innings, striking out a batter while giving up four hits. Isaiah Rivera pitched the final two frames. 

NEXT TIME OUT

• The Wildcats take the field again tomorrow at Bethel for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
