FOOTBALL GARNERS 19 ALL-MFSA AWARDS

MARION, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan football was rewarded for their on the field accomplishments Monday by the Mid-States Football Association (MFSA). As a member of the Mideast division of the MFSA, the Wildcats garnered nine First Team awards, seven Second Team honors and three Honorable Mentions honors. The list was highlighted by Wildcat wide receiver Brayden Smith who earned Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors, and Head Coach Jordan Langs and Defensive Coordinator J.J. Clark who earned Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the year honors. 

"After the recent weeks, never have I been more proud to be a member of the MSFA Mideast," said Head Coach Jordan Langs. "It is humbling to see the recognition our players and coaches have been shown by our fellow programs that we hold so much respect for."

MFSA Mideast First Team

  • QB - Xander Stokes
    • Stokes tossed for 1829 yards and found the endzone on 13 occasions with his arm and twice on the ground. He finished the season with a 162.20 passer rating. 
  • RB - Devodney Alford
    • Alford rushed for 740 yards and found the endzone on 12 occasions. He averaged 92.50 yards-per-game this season. 
  • WR - Brayden Smith
    • Smith tallied 677 receiving yards and found the endzone on 9 occasions. 
  • WR - Jacquez Carter
    • Carter tallied 653 receiving yards and found the endzone on 5 occasions.
  • OL - Ben Farrell
  • OL - Luke Watson
  • DL - Issac Abeo
    • Abeo collected 7 tackles for loss for a total of 35 yards while sacking the quarterback on 6.5 occasions. He also forced two fumbles.
  • DB - Justin Johnson
    • Johnson collected 52 tackles while breaking up 11 passes. He also totaled 8 TFL's, 3 sacks and 2 interceptions. 
  • K - Ben VonGunten
    • Vongunten went 10-for-12 on the season with his longest coming in at 46 yards. He was a perfect 2-for-2 from 40-yards or more and kicked a game-winning field goal at USF.
