VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS SAINT XAVIER ON SENIOR NIGHT

MARION, Ind. - No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan volleyball kicked off senior night Friday defeating non-conference opponent RV Saint Xavier (Ill.) on Senior Night in three sets. The Wildcats and Cougars have sqaured off 16 times, with IWU's lone lost in the series coming in 2006. IWU honored their lone senior, Ana Collar on Senior Night.
 
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
WIN 3-0: 25-17, 31-29, 25-21
  • Each set was a battle point for point. The second set ended in a thrilling 31-29 off of a kill by Collar.
  • Wildcats posted 47 kills led by Collar with 17 tying her season-best, Martina Demarchi with 11, and Courtney Watkins with 10.
  • Victoria Johnson had a huge night on the net posting five blocks and six kills.
  • Paige Thibault led the defense with 22 of the team's 63 digs.
  • Olivia Zawadzki paced the offense with 45 assists.
MOATS PERSPECTIVE
  • "This was a great win tonight against a very strong St. Xavier team! We loved the high-level competition! We are so excited to celebrate Ana Collar tonight! She had an amazing match tonight putting up 17 kills as her best yet! Ana, we love you and are so proud of you!!! We all love you very much!"
SENIOR NIGHT
  • Prior to the match Ana Collar was honored on Senior Night. She has left a lasting legacy on and off the court. Collar's list of accomplishments isn't over in a Wildcat jersey, as she has already collected numerous Crossroads League awards and NAIA All-American honors thus in her first three seasons.
  • Coach Moats had this to say about Collar, "We have been so blessed to have such a high caliber student-athlete in Ana! She has raised the level of our program significantly! However, where I was most proud is the impactful person, she has been to her teammates and coaches! She has made us all better! Thank you, Ana, for all that you have committed to over these last four years! You will be greatly missed! Love you lots!"
