Box Score MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan men’s basketball collected their 11th Top-25 win Tuesday, on the heels of Kyle Mangas’ fifth straight 30-point performance. The Wildcats topped No. 21 Saint Francis 97-82, moving IWU to 21-4 on the season and 11-2 in League play, good for the best record in the Crossroads League.
Mangas sits just two points behind 2014 & 2016 NAIA D2 National Champion Lane Mahurin, who tallied 2,288 points in his career. He is the only player this season in the NAIA to score 30 or more in five straight games.
INSIDE THE BOX
- USF jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead, forcing an early IWU timeout. The Cougars would score 11 straight points before IWU netted their first points of the game. The Wildcats would fight back, taking their first lead at the 9:21 mark.
- Seth Maxwell started the contest 5-of-5 from the floor, finishing the first half with 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Kyle Mangas finished the first half with 17 points, most by any team. USF had zero players in double figures at the half.
- IWU forced nine turnovers in the first half, leading to 14 extra points. USF forced just three turnovers, collecting just two points. USF collected 15 points from their bench in the first half, while IWU mustered zero.
- Saint Francis attempted just one free throw in the second half, tying a season-low for attempts in a game with eight.
- IWU posted a season-low six turnovers in the contest, besting their previous low seven by one.
THE LEAGUE
- With just five regular-season games, IWU sits in first place of the Crossroads League. IWU holds a one-game advantage over No.8 Marian, and a three and half-game advantage over third-place No.18 Grace.
- If the season ended today, Huntington and Goshen would not make the Crossroads League Tournament.
