MEN'S BASKETBALL WINS SEVENTH STRAIGHT LEAGUE TOURNAMENT GAME

MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan men’s basketball won their seventh straight Crossroads League Tournament game Wednesday, besting Mount Vernon Nazarene 101-69. The Wildcats overwhelmed the Cougars, holding their top two scorers Jevon Knox (20 PPG), and Austin Jones (15 PPG) to just six combined points on 3-of-13 shooting.


As a squad, Indiana Wesleyan scored 68 of their 101 points in the paint. 14 Wildcats made an appearance in the contest with the bench contributing 40 points. 

 

INSIDE THE BOX

  • IWU jumped out to a 26-8 lead to start the ball game, forcing five MVNU turnovers during the stretch.
  • Indiana Wesleyan made five of their six free throws in the first half, while Mount Vernon Nazarene took zero free throws. IWU finished the game shooting 50% from the line, while MVNU shot 4-of-6 in the contest.
  • Both teams shot 4-for-9 from deep in the first half, while IWU finished the half 61% and MVNU finished 42% from the floor. IWU finished the game 8-of-16 from deep while MVNU shot 7-of-22.

 

MOVING UP THE WILDCAT SCORING LIST

  • Kyle Mangas made another jump on the Indiana Wesleyan All-Time Scoring, passing Durand “Speedy” Walker. Mangas, who needed just three points headed into the contest, finished with 23 needing 22 to become IWU’s all-time leading scorer.

  • Kyle Mangas moved up the Crossroads League Scoring List to No. 12, jumping Durand “Speedy” Walker and Bethel’s William Walker. IWU holds three spots in the Top-15 while Bethel boasts the most players with four.
