Box Score MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan women’s basketball kicked off 2020 League play Saturday, sinking the Pilots of Bethel University, 96-58. The Wildcats jumped out early in the contest, building a 21-point lead in the first quarter.
Madison Davis would lead all Wildcats in scoring with 21, setting a new career-high. Dayton Groninger and Anne Secrest added 16 and 12 respectively, while Sarah McLimore added ten off the bench.
INSIDE THE BOX
- The Wildcats exploded in the first quarter posting 36 points on 13-of-19 shooting. Madison Davis was a perfect 4-for-4 from deep in the first, leading IWU with 12. As a squad, the Wildcats shot 68% in the first quarter from the field and 60% from deep.
- Davis finished the half with 18 points, setting a new career-high in the first half. Davis missed just one shot in the first half, shooting 6-of-7 from deep.
- Davis would collect another three in the second half, giving her seven in the contest. Her seven made threes are most by a Wildcat since Margot Woughter hit seven in the NAIA National Tournament last season against Bryan College.
- As a team, IWU dished out 24 assists, good for second-most this season. Four was the lucky number as Groninger, Goodwin, Gabby Suarez, and Baylie VanDyke each had four.
