Football Collects Second Straight Comeback Win in Programs First Night Game

Box Score

MARION, Ind. – It was another comeback victory for Wildcat football Saturday, as Indiana Wesleyan downed Olivet Nazarene 28-24. The Wildcats used a 14-point third-quarter giving them their first lead of the game.

INSIDE THE BOX

  • The Wildcats nearly matched ONU’s opening drive touchdown, but a Jesse DeGlow fumble on the one-yard line would give the ball back to the Tigers. DeGlow would redeem himself with a rushing touchdown in the second quarter, tying the ball game up at 14 apiece.
  • Indiana Wesleyan traveled 82 yards in the third quarter for their first lead of the game. Evan Elston delivered the score off a one-yard rush. IWU scored a total of 14 points in the third quarter.
  • Wade Phillips gave Indiana Wesleyan the lead in the fourth quarter with a 49-yard burst to the house.
  • IWU finished the game with a season-best of 190 rushing yards. The Wildcats rushed for a combined 152 yards in their first two outings of the season.
  • Blair connected with 11 different wide receivers for a total of 26 completions, matching his career-best for a game. Ironically Blair set his career mark for most completions in a game against Olivet Nazarene last season. Blair finished tonight two passes short to matching his number from a season ago.
  • Phillips finished the game just two yards short of 100. His 98-yards are most by a Wildcat this season in a game.
  • Ben VonGunten nearly doubled his PAT total for the season, going 4-for-4. VonGunten is now a perfect, 9-for-9 on the season.
