Women's Soccer Cruises Past Mount Vernon Nazarene

Box Score

MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan women’s soccer (8-1-1, 1-0 CL) opened up Crossroads League play Wednesday with an easy 4-1 victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene. Lexis Garcia netted the first goal of the match in the 23rd minute, while also giving IWU back the lead in the 53rd minute.

INSIDE THE BOX

  • Freshman Kenzie Millar collected her second goal of the season in the 68th minute.
  • Lauren Turner scored the final goal of the evening, giving her a goal in six of IWU’s matches this season.
  • IWU earned their second straight win over the Cougars and their fourth in their last five meetings.

SEIFFERT PERSPECTIVE

  • First half we really didn’t quite come out and compete the way that we know how. Our composure was off a little bit and it took us a little while to really settle in. Second half we allowed the ball to do more of the work and really tried to play more simple. We are definitely proud of our teams fight beating a really talented MVNU team who is tough to score on. We will get back to our routine of resting and healing up as we prepare for our next league match this weekend.

MID-SEASON UPDATE

  • We talked with Coach Seiffert prior to the match to discuss how the Wildcats have played so far this season.

WHAT’S NEXT

  • IWU hosts Huntington on Saturday at 1 p.m.
