Women's Soccer Grabs Seventh Straight Victory

Box Score

MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan women’s soccer (7-1, 0-0 CL) claimed their seventh straight win Wednesday, defeating Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) 2-0. The Wildcats have gone nearly 30 days since their only defeat of the season.

INSIDE THE BOX

  • Cincinnati Christian mustered just six total shots while Indiana Wesleyan fired off 37. It’s the third time this season IWU has fired off 30 or more shots in a match.
  • Lauren Turner collected her ninth goal of the season giving her 18 career goals.
  • Sam Castaneda recorded the fifth shutout of the season, collecting 28 saves so far this season.

SEIFFERT PERSPECTIVE

  • “Today we were not at our best.  Our team knows the standards and quality of play that we are expecting and it just wasn’t where it needed to be.  Our build-up in the beginning and the middle third was good, and we had the opportunity to really put this game away early and often, but we didn’t capitalize enough on the chances that we created.  We will get there, but right now we have to get healthy and make sure we get ready for a really good match this weekend.”

WHAT’S NEXT

  • IWU hosts #11 Vanguard on September 21 at 12 p.m.
  • The Wildcats will look to revenge the 5-0 lost from last season.
