MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan women’s soccer celebrated their home opener Saturday in a 3-0 victory over IU-Kokomo. Sophomore, Lauren Turner electrified the crowd of more than 700 scoring the first goal of the match in the 28th minute. Turner would strike again in the 44th minute, sending a cross over the defense for an easy Kenzie Millar header into the back of the net.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Freshman Sam Castaneda collected her first career shutout in the victory.
  • Kenzie Miller and Sydney Brown both recorded their first career goal.

SEIFFERT PERSPECTIVE

  • I’m definitely excited how our team came out in our home opener today.  We had a great crowd here and it was a fun atmosphere to be a part of.  Our team played a little tight at first but settled into things as the game progressed.  We are still early in the season, but we are moving in the right direction.  We are excited to get back to the training grounds on Monday.

WHAT’S NEXT

  • IWU makes their way to Chicagoland for matches with Olivet Nazarene (Sept. 6) and Trinity International (Sept. 7).
