Box Score 2 SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – It was a short turn around for Indiana Wesleyan softball, but their hot bats traveled well dominating Spring Arbor pitching with a total of 19 runs on 20 hits. The Wildcats took game one 6-3, and shut the lights out early in game two, winning 13-2 in five innings. The pair of wins gives IWU a record of 19-1 in their last 20 meetings, with nine of those wins coming in six innings or less.
GAME 1
- Sydney Williams put the Wildcats on the board in the top of the first with a home run to left-center field. Addie Benham would give IWU their first lead of the game just an inning later, homering to left field.
- With all things square at three apiece at the end of seven, IWU took advantage in the eighth, posting three runs.
- Mckenzey Ridge would shut the door on the Cougars in the eighth, facing just three batters in a quick inning giving IWU the 6-3 win. Ridge pitched all eight innings for Indiana Wesleyan, giving up just three runs on eight hits, with six strikeouts.
GAME 2
- IWU would use a 13 run third inning, putting the Cougars in a hole they couldn’t climb out of.
- Eight different Wildcats strung together multiple hits in the third, with Miranda Wehrle leading the way with four RBI’s. Kira Madl and Rebecca Schrad would each post three RBI’s with Sydney Lowe capturing two and Benham collecting one.
- Benham and Hannah Miller would split duties from the rubber in game two, allowing just one hit in five innings of work. It’s Indiana Wesleyan's second game in the past two days where Wildcat pitching allowed just one hit.
NEXT TIME OUT
- IWU wraps up the 2019 regular season on Monday when they head to Mount Vernon Nazarene University. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
