MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan softball kicked off Crossroads League play Tuesday, needing extra innings to win the game, while pushing across the winning run in the seventh inning of game two. IWU defeated Goshen 8-7 and 5-4 opened League play in perfect fashion.

GAME 1

• IWU surrendered their one-run lead in the top of the sixth, giving up five runs to the Maple Leafs.
• The Wildcats battled back posting three runs in the bottom of the seventh, giving themselves new life.
• Lauren Buckey would start the bottom of the eighth off with a single, later scoring to win the game on a Maple Leafs wild pitch.    

GAME 2

• It was all Maple Leafs through four innings, putting the Wildcats in a 4-0 hole.
• IWU would muster a run in the fourth and fifth, before squaring the game at four in the bottom of the sixth.
• Goshen applied pressure in the top of the seventh, stranding Katherine Boyer on second.
• A GC error in the bottom of the seventh allowed Trinity Medina to score from second for the Wildcat victory.
