Poor Shooting Dooms Women's Basketball

MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan women’s basketball hit a shooting slump Saturday, dropping their second straight League game, 69-61 to Huntington University. The Wildcats shot just 35% from the field on 21-of-60 shooting.

 

EARLY HOLE, EARLY RUN

  • Indiana Wesleyan made just four baskets in the first quarter digging themselves a seven-point hole headed into the second quarter. Huntington University doubled the Wildcats up, making 8-of-14 from the field for 57%. IWU bounced back at the start of the second quarter going on a nine-point run, giving them a one-point lead heading into the final seven minutes of the first half.

 

REBOUND PROBLEM

  • In an area the Wildcats have found success all season, IWU has been out-rebounded by their opponents in consecutive games. The Wildcats currently rank first in total rebound margin in the country, but in the last two games IWU has given up 20 offensive rebounds for a total of 12 second-chance points.

 

NEXT TIME OUT

  • Indiana Wesleyan hosts Spring Arbor (Mich.) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
