FLORENCE, Ky. - Sophomore transfer Addie Benham made a huge splash in her Wildcat debut Thursday, leading No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan softball in a pair of victories over Ohio Christian.

The Wildcats pushed across a late run in game one winning 2-1, while in game two IWU exploded from the plate winning 11-2. The Wildcats collected seven home runs in the doubleheader with Benham collecting three for herself.

GAME 1 RECAP
  • Ohio Christian would break the scoreless deadlock in the top of the fifth pushing across the first run of the ball game.
  • Pinch-hitting for Aubrie Eckert in the bottom of the fifth, freshman Mackenzie Brown tied things up, sending the first ball of her Wildcat career over the fence.
  • Benham would give the Wildcats the lead in the bottom of the sixth, leading off the inning with a home run.
  • Mckenzey Ridge would go the distance in the contest, allowing four hits while striking out seven.

GAME 2 RECAP
  • Benham would put the Wildcats on the board first in game two, picking up her second home run of the day.
  • A Hannah Miller home run in the fourth and a Sydney Williams home run in the fifth, gave Indiana Wesleyan the 3-2 lead headed into the sixth inning.
  • Miller got things started in the sixth, doubling to right center field scoring Victoria Boyer, Maddy Margraf, and Mackenzie Brown whom all reached earlier in the inning!
  • Miranda Wehrle stepped to the plate next homering to right field, extending the Wildcats lead to six.
  • Benham would collect her third home run of the day in the sixth inning, securing the Wildcats win.

BABINSKI PERSPECTIVE
  • I loved how we came out today. These wins were the byproduct of dugout intensity, a team above self-philosophy, and timely execution.
  • This team understands the progress and more importantly the Platform we have to reach others for Jesus. Can't wait to play again tomorrow

NEXT TIME OUT
  • The Wildcats face Crowley's Ridge College (1 PM) and Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) (3 PM) tomorrow, Friday, February 22.
  • Due to rain in the forecast, all games Saturday have been canceled and will not be rescheduled at this time.
