Tonagel Claims 400th Win, Wildcats Top #10 Marian

MARION, Ind. – No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan men’s basketball defeated their fifth Top-25 opponent of the season Saturday. The Wildcats built a 22-7 early lead in the first half cruising past No. 10 Marian 96-75. The afternoon was highlighted by head coach Greg Tonagel earning his 400th win in his 15-year career at the helm for the Wildcats.

 

INSIDE THE BOX

  • Back-to-back threes by Tanner Rubio and Noah Smith, followed by an and-one offensive rebound by Smith gave IWU a 9-0 run to open the game.
  • Indiana Wesleyan poured in a season-high 57 points in the first half, shooting 58% on field goals.
  • In the first half, the Wildcats tallied 15 assists and eight steals, leading to the 26-point spread at halftime.
  • 14 different IWU players saw playing time with ten etching their name in the scorebook, led by Kyle Mangas with 18 as four Wildcats reached double figures. 
  • Indiana Wesleyan finished with 48 total rebounds, 18 better than Marian University.
