Historical Women's Soccer Season Ends in NAIA National Championship Quarterfinals

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – Indiana Wesleyan women’s soccer historical season came to an end Wednesday, in the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Quarterfinals presented by The Wharf. No. 1 William Carey handed the Wildcats a 6-1 loss ending their season with a record of 19-3-2.

 

INSIDE THE BOX

  • The Crusaders pounded the net accumulating 30 shots, landing 14 on frame. IWU mustered just six shots in the match, all falling on frame.
  • IWU’s lone goal came five minutes into the first half by senior Lexis Garcia. Both Sydney Brown and Lauren Turner assisted on the goal.
  • Sam Castaneda and Abby Dykema split time in goal, with Castaneda playing 57 minutes of the match.

 

SEASON QUICK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Indiana Wesleyan’s 19 victories are the most by a women’s soccer team since 2007 when they won 21.
  • Their two losses are also their fewest since 2007 when they lost twice as well.
  • The Wildcats allowed just 15 goals this season, the fewest since 2012 when they allowed just 12.
  • The seniors will graduate with 55 wins, the most by a class since 2010.
