Box Score ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – For the first time in program history, Indiana Wesleyan women’s soccer is headed to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championships. The Wildcats earned a 1-0 victory over the Blue Raiders of Lindsey Wilson, a team they lost to earlier in the season.
Emily Carter collected the goal for the Wildcats off a Lauren Turner cross. It is Carter’s second goal of the season, both coming in tournament play.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Lindsey Wilson outshot Indiana Wesleyan 14-12 in the match. LWC landed five on frame while IWU landed four. Both Lindsey Wilson and Indiana Wesleyan recorded two shots in the opening 45 minutes.
- The Wildcats committed 12 fouls in the match, while the Blue Raiders committed six.
- Emily Carter broke the game open in the 63rd minute and provided the game-winner. In just her fifth shot, second on goal this season, Carter netted her second goal of 2019.
- Sam Castaneda collected a big-time save in the 18th minute, perhaps the biggest threat in the match by the Blue Raiders. It is IWU’s 14th shutout of the season.
- The victory snapped Lindsey Wilson’s seven-match win streak. It is the Wildcats first win over the Blue Raiders in nine years.
