Box Score MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan women’s soccer is headed to the Crossroads League Tournament Championship for the first time in nine seasons. Lexis Garcia sealed the deal for IWU, finding the back of the net in the 85th minute.
IWU would hold on in the final five, winning 2-1 over Mt. Vernon Nazarene University.
INSIDE THE BOX
- MVNU struck first in the 51st minute, but a Garcia to Emily Carter cross squared things up just four minutes later.
- MVNU edged IWU with nine shots on goal while IWU landed five.
- The Wildcats didn’t attempt a corner in the entire match while the Cougars fired off four.
SEIFFERT PERSPECTIVE
- Today was not the prettiest of matches as it is always tough to beat a good team twice in one season, but I’m proud of our girls for their fight and ability to lean on each other no matter what the situation or scoreline is. Our team battled today and we are proud of them for that. We will rest up and recover after this one and then look forward to getting back to the training grounds on Monday, as we prepare for yet another strong opponent in the championship game next week.
NEXT TIME OUT
- IWU hosts Marian on Saturday, November 16th.
- The Knights bounced IWU out of the Tournament last season in the Quarterfinals.
