Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. - It was too little too late Tuesday night, as Indiana Wesleyan women’s basketball fell 72-63 on the road at Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Wildcats nearly overcame a 16-point deficit, but multiple Cougar clutch threes never allowed IWU within three points late in the contest. Indiana Wesleyan moves to 6-3 on the season, and 0-1 in Crossroads League play. Mount Vernon Nazarene moves to 8-2 on the season, and 1-0 in League play.
INSIDE THE BOX
- IWU jumped out to a quick 15-8 lead in the first quarter but struggled to score for the next six minutes. MVNU clawed back tying the ball game at 15 apiece just 30-seconds into the second quarter. The Wildcats were outscored 18-4 to end the first half, heading into halftime down 13.
- IWU used a 19-7 run in the third quarter, climbing to within four points of MVNU. Indiana Wesleyan’s 23 points in the third quarter were one point better than they scored in the first half.
- The Cougars poured in 30 points from deep in the contest, while IWU mustered just 15. The Wildcats shot just 29% from behind the arc while the Cougars shot 40%.
