Women's Soccer Advances to Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals

MARION, Ind. – No. 1 overall seed, Indiana Wesleyan women’s soccer cruised to a 2-0 victory Saturday, defeating Saint Francis in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals.

 

INSIDE THE BOX

  • Saint Francis took just four shots in the match while IWU took 28, 14 were landed on frame.
  • Lexis Garcia netted her 14th goal of the season, putting IWU up 1-0 in the 29th minute.
  • Sydney Brown provided cushion three minutes later, netting her seventh goal of the season.
  • Sam Castaneda guarded the goal for the entire 90 minutes, collecting her 10th shutout of the season.

 

SEIFFERT PERSPECTIVE

  • I’m definitely proud of our team and how they came out and played through the elements and for each other today.  We kept our focus and drive and ended up getting the result we needed.  We will get ready for another week of prep as we get set for another tough matchup next weekend.

  • IWU hosts either #4 Mt. Vernon or #5 Taylor on Saturday in the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals.
