Football Holds Trinity International Scoreless in 66 Point Win

DEERFIELD, Illi. – Indiana Wesleyan football moved to 4-2 on the season, thumping Trinity International 66-0. The Wildcats used 235 yards on the ground and just 15 passing attempts to down the Trojans.  The 60-point route is the second-largest victory in program history.

 

INSIDE THE BOX

  • Zack Blair set a new career record tossing four touchdowns. Blair had thrown for at least three touchdowns on four different occasions.
  • Nine different running backs carried the ball, with Varshaun Dixon leading the way with 12 carries. Jesse Deglow led the way with 87 rushing yards, and Dixon collecting 50-yards. 50 of Deglow’s 87 yards came from one carry.
  • Nine different Wildcats caught a pass, with Brayden Smith catching three for 57 yards. Smith was one of four receivers to collect a touchdown, scoring twice in the contest.
  • Ben VonGunten was a perfect 9-for-9 in extra-point attempts, while also adding a 31-yard field goal. IWU needed VonGunten just twice when it came to punts in the contest, for an average punt of 54.7 yards.
  • 30 different Wildcats recorded a tackle in the ball game with 13 coming as tackles for loss.
  • Cameron Lauck came away with IWU’s lone interception in the contest, giving him three for his career.

  • IWU returns home on November 2 hosting #18 Siena Heights at 12 p.m.
