Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. – For the first time in nine years, Indiana Wesleyan women’s soccer is your Crossroads League Champions. Ending a nine-year drought, the Wildcats defeated Goshen College 1-0. On their way to the Championship, the Wildcats defeated three ranked opponents posting an undefeated record of 8-0-1 in League play and a 14-1-2 overall record.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Lauren Turner netted her third League goal of the season in the 8th minute giving IWU the 1-0 lead. Turner netted 12 total goals in 2019, three more than her freshman campaign.
- Lexis Garcia bested the competition, leading the Crossroads League with nine goals and 20 points. Six of Garcia’s goals came as game-winners putting her second in the NAIA.
- Freshman Sydney Brown finished tied for second in League play, with five assists this season while also adding three goals. Brown’s 11 points are good enough for Top-5 in the League.
- Sam Castaneda finished the League season with 78 saves, 39 in League play good for fifth-best. The freshman keeper posted a .49 goal against average, the best in the Crossroads League and seventh in the NAIA.
