Box Score MARION, Ind. – Earlier in the year, Indiana Wesleyan women’s basketball squared off in what ended as a three-overtime thriller with IWU coming away with a 100-99 win. The Wildcats held a 15-point lead with 13 minutes left in the contest, but a 19-10 USF run would give IWU just a six-point cushion heading into the final three minutes. IWU fended off a pesky Saint Francis squad in the final minutes, winning 68-61.
JUST TOO-TALL
- USF stood no chance when it came to rebounds Tuesday, as IWU grabbed 43 total rebounds, 17 of which were offensive. USF mustered just 19 total rebounds, 14 less than their season average of 32. USF’s 19 rebounds set a new season low which was previously set at 21.
THE LEAGUE
- The Wildcats win over Saint Francis gives them a two-game lead over third place, while sitting just one game back from first in the Crossroads League play. IWU will play three of their remaining five League games on the road, facing first-place teams Taylor (February 6) and Marian (February 16) on the road.
NEXT TIME OUT
- Indiana Wesleyan travels to Goshen (Ind.) on Saturday for the first of two straight road games. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the men to follow at 3 p.m.
WHALEY PERSPECTIVE
- I thought our team battled through a lot of adversity tonight. With every run USF made we showed a lot of resolve and had runs of our own.
