MARION, Ind –  Indiana Wesleyan lead by 20 with 3:52 left in the game but a feisty Grace College did not go away pulling as they pulled to within 10 points. IWU showed poise and closed out the Lancers by a 79-67 score to open Crossroads League play with a victory. 

THE BIGS

• Ann Secrest kicked things off for the Wildcats scoring the first six points of the first quarter. Nicole Ignasiak took over in the second quarter scoring seven points on 3-of-4 shooting. The duo combined for 36 points, 16 rebounds and five assists in the contest.

THE FRESHMAN

• Freshman Wildcat, Margot Woughter, scored seven straight points in the third quarter, giving IWU a 14 point cushion. Woughter finished the game 4-of-7 from the field for 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
• Lancer Freshman, Kamryn Hostetler led Grace with 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting.

EIGHTEEN, THE MAGIC NUMBER

• Katie Key, Nicole Ignasiak, and Anne Secrest all scored 18 points on a combined 21-of-33 shooting.

WHALEY PERSPECTIVE

• I like how our team responded tonight! We still need to clean some things up before we head to Mount Vernon. 

NEXT TIME OUT

• I was really proud of our resolve tonight. Grace punched us and put us on our heels early but I thought we were connected and overcame a lot of adversity as a unit.
