Softball Win Streak Reaches 10 with Sweep of MVNU

MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan softball shut down visiting Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) for a pair of wins on Friday at Wildcat Field. IWU pitching allowed just six hits and one walk in the two wins while the Wildcat bats exploded for 22 hits.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Indiana Wesleyan scored in the last five innings that they came to bat. IWU scored three runs in each the 2nd and 3rd innings for the 6-0 lead.
  • The early runs was more than enough for IWU starting pitcher Kaisey Carson who allowed just one run on two hits in a complete game effort.
  • Sara Kreitzer, Kristen Exposito, and Kira Madl all provided extra base hits.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Indiana Wesleyan led 1-0 in the 2nd inning on a Carlie Weaver RBI single. That lead held into the 6th when MVNU scored on a sac fly for a 1-1 game.
  • Kelsey Kooistra had an RBI infield single in the 6th inning for the go-ahead run. Later in the inning, Kaisey Carson nearly hit a grand slam but settled for a bases clearing double for the 5-1 lead.
